A. Any land use development permit approved pursuant to this code shall be commenced, performed and completed in compliance with the provisions and conditions of the permits under which the project was approved. The permit shall be valid as outlined in the table below from the date that the permit is approved. Approval periods and extensions for permits issued under the provisions of the building code shall be as set forth in Chapter 19.04 SMC and are not subject to the timeframes of this chapter.

B. The City shall mail notice of the expiration of any permit application to the address of the applicant as contained in the permit file and shall also place a copy of the expiration notice in the file. If the City fails to mail the expiration notice, the permit period shall not be extended except as provided in subsection (C) of this section.

C. Upon written request by the applicant received prior to a permit’s expiration date, the Planning Director, in his or her sole discretion, may extend the date of permit expiration for up to one year. The applicant’s written request shall provide justification for the delay and list reasonable grounds why the extension is necessary. (Ord. 2338, 2017)
