The purpose of the codes is to establish minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety, and general welfare through structural strength, means of egress facilities, stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, energy conservation, and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment, and to provide safety to fire fighters and emergency responders during emergency operations. The codes set out in this chapter are hereby adopted as the code of the City of Snohomish for regulating the erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area, and maintenance of all buildings or structures in the City of Snohomish; providing for issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor, and each and all of the regulations, provisions, conditions, and terms of such International and Uniform Codes, 2018 Edition, as published by the International Code Council; and the secondary publications referenced above, all of which are on file in the office of the Building/Fire Official as hereby referred to, are adopted and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this chapter.
