2.27.050 Purpose and Duties of the Commission.
A. The Commission shall act in an advisory capacity to the City Council to inform Council decisions and policy in all matters pertaining to public safety.
B. The Commission may, but shall not be required to, take public comment.
C. The Commission shall focus on public safety issues and act as a conduit and forum for public input in all matters pertaining to public safety including but not limited to crime incidences and trends, life safety issues, neighborhood watch, emergency preparedness, traffic calming measures, pedestrian safety and seasonal and emergent public safety issues. The Commission, to the extent practicable and permitted by law, shall support and promote community efforts to utilize the Neighborhood Watch Program, disaster preparedness, and CERT team programs.
D. The Commission shall write an annual report to the City Council on its activities for the previous year and make special reports as necessary in response to specific Council requests. (Ord. 2341, 2017; Ord. 2410, 2021. Formerly 2.27.060)
